Aid sought to enforce housing law
A hearing on a measure to direct state resources to local code enforcement in college towns such as Towson is scheduled for Thursday.
The proposal would authorize the state Department of Housing and Community Development to provide grants and technical assistance to local jurisdictions to enforce housing laws in areas where there is a significant population of college students.
The bill is co-sponsored by Baltimore County Republican Dels. Susan L.M. Aumann, Steven J. DeBoy Sr. and Patrick L. McDonough, and Carroll County Republican Del. Nancy R. Stocksdale. A Senate version has not been introduced.
The public hearing on HB184 is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday before the House of Delegates' Environmental Matters Committee, Room 250 of the House Office Building, 6 Bladen St. in Annapolis.
