Fire Department gets $30,756 grant
The Rosedale Volunteer Fire Department has been awarded a $30,756 grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's assistance to firefighters grant program.
The fire company will use the funds to purchase new equipment, including a thermal imaging camera, rescue air bags and hose nozzles.
The grants help local fire departments purchase needed equipment and provide training, safety projects and recruitment and retention.

Board of Education to salute honorees
The Board of Education has scheduled the second of three recognition ceremonies this school year to honor students, staff, teachers, volunteers and community members who have contributed to Baltimore County public schools.
The ceremony honoring 130 individuals will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Parkville Middle School, 8711 Avondale Road.
Honorees include those who have won awards or significantly helped their schools or the school system.

Free help available to quit smoking
The county health department and the American Lung Association have teamed up to help residents quit smoking. Support groups will meet at various locations and times. Enrollees can receive free nicotine patches, gum or lozenges. Information: 888-887-0123 or 410-887-6092.
