Baltimore Sun restaurant critic Elizabeth Large is feeling unexpectedly chipper. She asks: "Have we had more sunny days this winter than usual? I don't seem to be as suicidal." The NWS doesn't keep monthly gloominess averages. But while forecasters rated 16 December days as "cloudy," they judged only seven January days that way. The rest were sunny, or partly so. They credit the position of the jet stream, which has sent fast-changing weather our way, and frequent sunny breaks.
