Five members of Girl Scout Troop 2046 recently earned the organization's highest honor, the Silver Award, for their accomplishments and community service.
Jessica Dietrick, Rachel Eibling, Lisa Williams, Shannon Kelly and Eirika Abbey were presented their Silver Award at a ceremony at First Presbyterian Church in Bel Air.
The focus of the troop's award was a community service project, Comfort for Hospitalized Kids, to relieve the stress, fear and anxiety faced by children going into the hospital.
The girls presented 50 fleece blankets and more than 200 wish list items each to the pediatric units of Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air and the University of Maryland's Hospital for Children in Baltimore.
Wish list items ranged from small toys, coloring books, cards and play dough, to bubble containers used for children with respiratory difficulties.
Troop members also had to fulfill other requirements for badges and awards to earn the top honor.
