An article in Saturday's Maryland section incorrectly reported the name of the state official who concluded in late 2006 that a Court of Appeals ruling suggested that 17-year-olds should not be allowed to vote in presidential primaries. The official was then-Attorney General J. Joseph Curran Jr. The State Board of Elections changed its policy last year after the current attorney general, Douglas F. Gansler, concluded that political parties had the right to open the primaries to 17-year-olds who turn 18 by the November election.
