BOYS BASKETBALL Joppatowne @ Bel Air
Tuesday, 7 p.m. Outlook: Joppatowne won when these two teams met earlier this month. Both teams were missing starters that night, and these teams are just about even when everyone's on the court. After the first games last week, the Mariners were second in the Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference's Chesapeake Division, while Bel Air was tied for third. Bel Air has to do a better job on the boards and getting top scorers Donn Hill and Lionel Perkins more good shots. The return of Jeremiah Conner is going to help Joppatowne.
THE SUN'S PICK: Joppatowne
GIRLS BASKETBALL Fallston @ C. Milton Wright
Thursday, 7 p.m. Outlook: In the teams' first meeting this season, C.M. Wright controlled much of the first half, but Fallston stepped up the defensive intensity to rally in the second half and win. The Mustangs need to find an answer for Jess Harlee and the Fallston pressure defense. The Cougars did a good job of slowing the C.M. Wright offense in the first game, especially Lauren Houck in the second half. C.M. Wright must control the pace of this game to have a shot at a victory.
THE SUN'S PICK: Fallston
BOYS BASKETBALL No. 15 Aberdeen @ John Carroll
Friday, 8 p.m. Outlook: This is a matchup between the two best teams in the county. Both are well-coached, have plenty of speed and talent and can score lots of points. The key is in who controls the tempo. John Carroll can play the half-court game, and so can Aberdeen, but the Eagles love to run. Just like most other teams that play John Carroll, Aberdeen needs to find an answer for forwardIsaiah Philmore, center Jakub Kusmieruk and the Patriots' inside game. The Patriots have to stop Aberdeen from running all night. Both are tough tasks.
THE SUN'S PICK: John Carroll
