Rebuilding Together appoints Workman

Courtney A. Workman has been named executive director of Rebuilding Together Howard County.

The nonprofit volunteer organization is dedicated to helping elderly and disabled low-income homeowners and families with children with home renovations and repairs. Its goals are to keep people living in warmth, safety and independence and to build better communities in Howard County.

Workman was a senior program and policy analyst for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families, where she monitored nonprofit organizations receiving federal grants.

She is a former presidential management fellow with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and was assistant director of the Maryland Leadership Institute in College Park.

McCrary to receive technology award

Victor R. McCrary Jr. will receive the 2008 Innovation in Technology Award from the National Society of Black Engineers Alumni Extension, Washington Metropolitan Area Chapter.

The Clarksville resident will receive the award Saturday at the organization's third Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Awards Dinner and Gala.

McCrary is president of the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers and business area executive for science technology at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in North Laurel.
