Coppin's Suber sets scoring mark in win

Senior Rashida Suber scored 10 points and became Coppin State's all-time leading scorer as the Eagles (7-10, 2-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) defeated Bethune-Cookman, 61-46, yesterday at the Coppin Center. Suber, who is also Coppin State's career leader in steals, stole a pass and went the length of the floor for a layup in the first half for the record-setting basket. She now has 1,543 career points. Bethune-Cookman fell to 3-12, 0-4.

Mount St. Mary's 74, Sacred Heart 63 -- Dominique Mazzuchi recorded her first double double with 26 points and 13 rebounds to power the host Mountaineers (5-13, 3-4 Northeast Conference) over the Pioneers (11-7, 6-1).

North Carolina A&T; 72, UMES 59 -- The Hawks (7-8, 0-2 MEAC) held a lead well into the second half, but a 17-4 run won the game for the visiting Aggies (10-5, 4-0). April McBride had 24 points and nine rebounds for UMES.

Lafayette 60, Navy 44 -- The Midshipmen (4-14, 0-3 Patriot League) were held to 12 second-half points in a loss to the host Leopards (10-8, 2-1).

Johns Hopkins 88, Swarthmore 65 -- Senior Andrea Dodrill scored a game-high 18 points to go with seven rebounds, and the visiting Blue Jays (5-8, 3-5 Centennial Conference) beat the Garnet (4-10, 1-7).

Morgan State 60, Florida A&M; 48 -- Jasmine Sellers scored a career-high 17 points to lead the host Bears (9-6, 3-0 MEAC) past the Rattlers (9-6, 1-3).

Bowie State 72, Livingstone 50 -- Lakisha Walker came off the bench to score a game-high 16 points for the host Bulldogs (11-2, 6-2 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association).

McDaniel 86, Haverford 47 -- Twelve players scored for the Green Terror (4-3, 3-1 Centennial Conference), including three with 15 points apiece, in a victory over the Fords (2-6, 0-4), who suffered their largest defeat of the season.

Frostburg State 74, Hilbert 58 -- Sophomore Shanell Williams' 18 points led four other Bobcats who scored in double figures in a win over the visiting Hawks (0-15, 0-8 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference). Frostburg State (5-9, 2-6) forced 32 turnovers.

Dickinson 50, Washington 46 -- The visiting Shorewomen committed 28 turnovers in the loss. Senior guard Elise Conway paced Washington (5-9, 2-5 Centennial Conference) with 12 points.

Moravian 70, Goucher 59 -- Shadae Swan (St. Frances) recorded her 12th game of 20 points or more this season, but the Gophers (7-8, 2-3 Landmark Conference) fell to the host Greyhounds (11-5, 4-1). Swan scored 23 points and moved into third place on Goucher's all-time scoring list.

Rosemont 85, College of Notre Dame 62 -- Junior forward Kendra Baldwin's 25 points and 12 rebounds weren't enough as the visiting Gators (4-9, 2-3 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference) lost to the Ramblers (5-8, 2-4).

Marymount 61, Salisbury 52 -- Monica Merkel shot 50 percent from the field on her way to scoring 18 points, but the rest of the Sea Gulls were not as accurate in a loss to the visiting Saints(13-2, 6-1 Capital Athletic Conference). The Sea Gulls (6-10, 3-4) shot 35 percent from the field.

Villa Julie 66, Hood 51 -- Tanisha Foster scored 18 points as the Mustangs (5-11, 2-5 Capital Athletic Conference) beat the Blazers (3-12, 1-6).
