POE'S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION -- Celebrate Edgar Allan Poe's 199th birthday during a two-day event at Westminster Hall, 519 W. Fayette St. The program includes theatrical presentations, an exhibit of Poe artifacts and a cider toast. Tomorrow's events begin at 4:30 p.m. The celebration is not open to children 10 and younger. "SCI-FI SPECTACULAR" -- George Takei, the Heroes star who first found fame as Mr. Sulu on Star Trek, narrates this show featuring the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra SuperPops and a vocal ensemble at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, 1212 Cathedral St. The program will include works from Star Wars, Superman, E.T. CHINESE NEW YEAR CELEBRATION -- The Lyric Opera House will host the 2008 Greater Baltimore-D.C. Chinese New Year Celebration. The event, which celebrates the start of the Chinese Lunar New Year, includes kung fu demonstrations, Chinese folk dancing and a performance of The Monkey King, an opera that combines singing and dialogue with acrobatics and martial arts.
