Aline Macknovitz

Aline E. Macknovitz, a retired bookkeeper-secretary and longtime Severna Park resident, died Tuesday of heart failure at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. She was 85.

Aline E. Dawidowicz was born in Baltimore and raised in Curtis Bay. She was a 1939 graduate of Southern High School.

Mrs. Macknovitz worked as a bookkeeper for John E. Harms Jr. & Associates Inc., a Pasadena engineering firm, from 1968 to 1974. From 1974 until retiring in 1984, she was a secretary at ITT Research in Annapolis.

She was a member of the American Business Women's Association.

Mrs. Macknovitz enjoyed baking and preparing Polish dishes. She also liked dancing and was an avid duckpin bowler.

She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, where a Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Edward P. Macknovitz, a retired Naval Academy planner and estimator; a son, Brian E. Macknovitz of Severna Park; two daughters, Nancy A. Pearce of East New Market and Marlene B. Burkett of Greencastle, Pa.; two brothers, Henry Davidowicz of Crisfield and Ronald Davidowicz of Wingate; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
