Actress Megan Anderson stands on the Everyman Theatre stage in almost total darkness, wearing an ankle-length, black, Victorian dress and cloak. A spotlight illuminates her prominent cheekbones, forehead and nose, creating the illusion of a skull.

Beneath the soles of our feet, the people in the audience feel the reverberations of a deep bass, and in the music is a detectable thump-THUMP! thump-THUMP! It's reminiscent of the amplified noise our heartbeats make when we are very frightened.
