Elizabeth Knapp, 89

Elizabeth R. Knapp, a homemaker and gardener, died of cancer Jan. 7 at Oak Crest Village retirement community in Parkville. She was 89.

Elizabeth Reckord was born in Bel Air and graduated from Bel Air High School.

The former Roland Park and Gibson Island resident had worked as a volunteer coordinator at Union Memorial Hospital for many years.

She was an avid golfer and enjoyed needlepoint. She also liked growing a variety of daffodils and was an active member of the Daffodil Society of Maryland.

Mrs. Knapp was a member of the Gibson Island Club and a former member of the Woman's Club of Roland Park.

Her husband of many years, Arthur A. Knapp, who had worked in the circulation department of The Sun, died in the mid-1980s, family members said.

A funeral Mass was offered Friday at the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Mary Our Queen.

Surviving are a brother, Jack Reckord of Linthicum; a niece and a cousin.
