Tomorrow is Jan. 1 on the old Julian calendar, which was replaced by our "modern" Gregorian calendar, beginning in 1582. That also makes it the first day of the year 2761 as the Romans counted them. Christians count from a date that represents the birth of Christ, but the Romans began numbering from the founding of the city of Rome - ab urbe condita in Latin. The Julian and Roman New Years will slip another day in 2101 (Gregorian) moving to Jan. 15. Happy New Year!
