Arundel inmate hangs himself

The Baltimore Sun

A 37-year-old Annapolis man arrested on a probation violation hanged himself in an Anne Arundel County jail, officials said yesterday.

Monteray Arkell Hastey of the first block of Washington Drive was found about 11:30 a.m. Friday hanging from a bedsheet in his cell at the Jennifer Road Detention Center in Annapolis, said Terry Kokolis, the facility administrator.

Jail staff "initiated immediate CPR," Kokolis said, but were unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead about a half-hour later at Anne Arundel Medical Center, Kokolis said.

Hastey, brother of well-known rapper Delray Richardson, was brought to the detention center Jan. 2 for a probation violation stemming from drug charges.
