Fairfield went on a 23-0 scoring run to open the second half and went on to beat Mount St. Mary's, 70-41, in the final of the Fordham Women's Basketball Championship yesterday in New York.
Lauren Howell and Tiffany Green combined for 23 points in a losing effort by the Mount (3-9).
Sabra Wrice paced the Stags (10-3) with 22 points to be named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. Baendu Lowenthal, who was also named to the all-tournament team, added 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Lauren Groom chipped in 13 points in the win.
St. John's 97, Morgan State 56 -- The host Red Storm (9-4) set season highs in five categories and ended its two-game skid at Carnesecca Arena. Corin Adams led three Bears (6-4) in double digits with 13 points.
Cabrini 74, St. Mary's 68 -- Stephanie Saint-Aubin scored a game-high 15 points in a losing effort for the Seahakws (6-3) in the opening round of the Sunsational Hoops Classic in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. The Cavaliers (5-3) jumped out to an early lead of 20-11.

Waynesburg 91, Frostburg State 79 -- Jade Belt (Perry Hall) and Brian Green (Curley) each scored 23 points in a losing effort by the Bobcats (2-9) on the second day of the 37th annual Marietta Shrine Tournament in Ohio. The Yellow Jackets (5-5) used a strong first half (55 points) to put Frostburg away. The Bobcats outscored Waynesburg in the 46-36 in the second half, but couldn't overcome the first-half deficit.
Gannon 81, Bowie State 68 -- The Golden Knights (10-1) - led by Vince Mosley's 24 ponits - won their 18th Porreco Cup Championship in the 34-year history of the tournament in Erie, Pa. Gannon started with a 15-0 run to beat the Bulldogs (6-5). Carolos Williams and Jason Ingram led Bowie with 19 and 18 points, respectively.
Wisconsin-River Falls 99, Villa Julie 65 -- Nathan Robertson scored 20 points to power the Falcons (6-5) past the Mustangs (2-9) at the Trip Sports Classic at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix. Wisconsin-River Falls shot 40 percent from the field to take a 25-point lead at the half. Chaise Lancaster had 18 points for Villa Julie.
