SAN FRANCISCO -- The college football careers of Maryland quarterbacks Chris Turner and Josh Portis have been connected since their high school days in Southern California.
When coach Ralph Friedgen recruited Portis, then one of the nation's top prospects, he made a side trip to see Turner, who was considered a notch or two below.
