Police suspect pedestrian error in fatal Randallstown accident

The Baltimore Sun

Baltimore County police said yesterday that a preliminary report on the death Thursday of a man struck by a vehicle indicated that pedestrian error was a contributing factor and that the accident remains under investigation.

Police said Kobla Etonam Kwami, 21, a resident of the Cedar Towers Apartments in the 3700 block of Twin Lakes Court near Randallstown, was crossing Liberty Road at Courtleigh Drive - not in a crosswalk - about 2:40 p.m. when he was struck by a Mercury Mountaineer sport utility vehicle; the driver stopped and remained at the scene.

Police said Kwami was taken by a county Fire Department ambulance to Northwest Medical Center, where he died a short time later.

The SUV driver, whose name was not released, was uninjured.
