Ask the Moon got control of the $50,000 Maryland Juvenile Filly Championship near the top of the stretch to win the featured race at Laurel Park.
She finished the one mile in 1 minute, 40:16 seconds.
Kosmo's Buddy was in the lead, but Ask the Moon caught up with two furlongs left and won by 4 1/2 lengths.
"I saw my filly in good position," said Ask the Moon's jockey, Hiram Rivera. "I had a lot of horse and I moved and she won easily."
Favorite Hartigan rallied to take second, and Kosmo's Buddy finished third.
Ask the Moon paid $12.20. Her trainer, Ned Allard, said he didn't give strict instructions to the jockey.
