The Burrowing Owls (I called FAU just "the Owls" once but was corrected by some alumni) didn't even have a football team until seven years ago, when former Baltimore Colts head coach Howard Schnellenberger started the program. In college football's speediest ascent ever, Florida Atlantic has gone from zero to Division I-AA to Division I-A to sharing first place in the Sun Belt Conference with a bowl berth. Memphis has won five of its past six games. Both teams are 7-5.

Boston just suffered its first home loss of the season, to Detroit, but Chicago isn't quite the team that the Pistons are. Indeed, once-mighty Chicago is in last place in the Central Division. On Dec. 8, the Celtics beat the Bulls by 11 and didn't even play well.
