Water mains break in Mount Vernon

The Baltimore Sun

City public works employees worked late last night to repair water mains that broke in the 200 block of E. Madison St. in Mount Vernon, sending water shooting through a half-dozen geysers north of the State Highway Administration building east to Guilford Avenue.

Traffic cones diverted drivers away from East Madison Street. The force of the water cracked the asphalt from the 200 block of Hunter St., near the northern entrance of the SHA building, to a shopping center in the 800 block of Guilford.
