A teenage girl was stabbed in the arm yesterday afternoon aboard a Maryland Transit Administration bus near Mondawmin Mall, and police took at least two juveniles into custody a short time later, an MTA spokeswoman said.

Shortly before 4 p.m., a fight broke out among several juveniles in the rear of bus No. 51 bound for Cherry Hill, said Jawauna Greene, the spokeswoman.

She said the bus driver immediately activated the emergency alarm button on her console, alerting MTA and Baltimore police.

Greene said the girl fled the bus and was found by police on nearby Auchentoroly Terrace, where she was treated by a city Fire Department ambulance crew.

Police entered the bus and took at least two juveniles into custody, said Greene, who did not know their genders or whether a weapon was recovered.

Tape from a video surveillance camera on the bus would be viewed to identify those involved in the fight, she said.

Yesterday's attack was the third on an MTA bus in the city this month.

Last week, five men attacked two men on bus No. 64 at Sixth and Hanover streets in Brooklyn after an exchange of words. No arrests have been made.

Police were also seeking to determine whether race was a factor in a Dec. 4 attack on a young white couple by several black teenagers aboard an MTA bus in Hampden.
