Matchup -- Blast (5-4) at California Cougars (5-3)

Time -- 10:15

Radio -- 680 AM

Outlook -- The Blast will probably welcome the nearly three-week break that arrives after this game. The Blast lost its fourth straight game Thursday night, 16-13, to the Monterrey La Raza in Mexico. As has been customary this season, the opposition raced to a big early lead (8-0 in the first eight minutes) that the Blast could not overcome. An improved Cougars team defeated the Blast, 12-10, at 1st Mariner Arena on Dec. 1, with former Blast F Chris Handsor (currently with 24 points) recording a hat trick. The Blast will be without M Matt Watson, who will undergo toe surgery next month and is out for the season, and D Billy Nelson might not play after tweaking his hamstring in Mexico. Assistant coach David Bascome led the Blast with two goals and an assist against La Raza.
