HOW THE GAME WAS LOST
The Ravens could do nothing right on offense, defense or special teams, falling behind 23-0 in the first 13 minutes, and trailing by 30 points at halftime. The Colts out-gained the Ravens by 198 yards and forced three turnovers in the first half.
Cornerback Samari Rolle called last Monday night's game against the New England Patriots "our Super Bowl" before the Ravens went down to the wire with the NFL's only unbeaten team. So what was last night's debacle against the Indianapolis Colts, the first preseason game for the Ravens?
ANOTHER MANNING MILESTONE
With his second of four touchdown passes last night, Colts quarterback Peyton Manning became the fifth player in NFL history to reach 300 in his carer. The others are John Elway (300), Fran Tarkenton (342), Dan Marino (420) and Brett Favre (438).
Whatever support Kyle Boller gained against the Patriots was gone before halftime last night. After Boller was intercepted for the second time in the second quarter, fans at M&T; Bank Stadium started booing one of their favorite former targets. That was before he fumbled and was intercepted again after intermission.
After listing cornerback Chris McAlister on the inactive list because of a recurring knee injury, the Ravens also went into last night's game without their other former All-Pro cornerback, Rolle, who was in street clothes because of a shoulder injury. Do you think Manning noticed their absence?
The pressure will be on the Ravens to avoid becoming the first victim of the winless Miami Dolphins when the losers of seven straight meet the losers of 13 straight Sunday at Dolphins Stadium at 1 p.m. Given the way both teams played yesterday, neither team should be favored.
