David Steele -- Points after

The Baltimore Sun

Trying to describe Evel Knievel to someone too young to have seen him is impossible. There's no one now, and hasn't been anyone since him, who does anything like what he did. It's not like comparing Dr. J to Kobe, because they both played basketball. But who today fits the description of "daredevil"?

Not to disrespect Knievel's passing, but it was a lot more pleasant discussing his than Sean Taylor's. Of course, there was no excuse for how ugly the discussion of Taylor's was, from the very beginning.

The Orioles and their fans could call the winter meetings successful if all they did was come home without Aubrey Huff. By any means necessary.

Ralph Friedgen did a fine job holding together that injury-riddled team enough to get it to .500. But if Maryland gets to go to a bowl game, then there should be no such thing as bowl games.

If you're not at least mildly intrigued by the Morgan State men going to Comcast Center to play the Terps on Thursday, then you're not paying enough attention.
