Man, 23, shot, in critical condition

A 23-year-old man was listed in critical condition yesterday after being shot in a Brooklyn Park parking lot Wednesday night, Anne Arundel County police said.

Officers responded to the 4100 block of Belle Grove Road around 7:30 p.m. for a report of shots fired and found the unidentified man suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower chest area, said Sara Schriver, a county police spokeswoman.

Witnesses told police that they saw a car pull into the parking lot of Daddy Pa's, a convenience store surrounded by homes, then heard shots fired and saw a group of men scatter, Schriver said.

The victim was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center. The investigation is ongoing.

Nine burglary arrests made

Anne Arundel County police said yesterday that their officers and the "Breaking and Entering Strike Team" have made nine burglary arrests in a week:

A 15-year-old boy from the 3600 block of Air Court in Pasadena. Police say someone tried to break into the window of a white Gray-Wolf trailer parked on the 8000 block of Veterans Highway, Millersville, around 12:10 a.m. Nov. 20. The boy is a suspect in additional cases from the area, police say.

Harvey B. Burroughs III, 22, of the 8500 block of Main Ave., Pasadena, and Corey D. Wallace, 24, of the 1800 block of North Braddish Ave., in Baltimore. Authorities said two men were found carrying property out of a home on the 8200 block of Green Ice Court in Pasadena, around 3 p.m. on Nov. 23.

A 17-year-old from the 100 block of Armistead Way in Baltimore. Team members responding around 9 a.m. Monday to a break-in in progress on the 500 block of Kenora Drive in Millersville found a man hiding inside the home. Police are continuing to investigate associated crimes in Millersville.

William Martin Schneider, 36, of the 3600 block of 2nd St. in Baltimore. An officer pulled over his Mazda 626 on Tuesday because it matched the description of a car seen near a burglary a day earlier on the 100 block of Circle Road. Team members subsequently charged him with one count of burglary and in seven theft cases.

Timothy Derek Whitacre, 18, of Beach Road in Glen Burnie, Ronald John Dehn, 17, of the 2400 block of 229th St. in Pasadena, Matthew Joseph Shue, 21, of Summit Ave. in Glen Burnie and a 17-year-old boy from the 700 block of Hilltop Road, Baltimore. Team members responding to the 700 block of Alpine Beach Road in Pasadena around 8 a.m. Tuesday found the four in a white Chevy Caprice near the scene of the incident with stolen property in the car. Police said their investigation cleared "numerous" cases of burglary and theft.

Man robbed at gunpoint

A man robbed a Glen Burnie restaurant at gunpoint Wednesday, Anne Arundel County police said.

Employees said the robber entered the Subway at 801 Landmark Drive around 8:40 p.m., showed a large, dark-colored handgun and demanded money from the cash register. He took an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robber was described as in his late teens or early 20s, about 6 feet tall, 160 to 170 pounds, with a thin build and medium complexion and wearing black pants, a black hooded jacket, black gloves, a black skullcap and a black mask.

Man stole woman's purse, police say

A woman was the victim of a strong-arm robbery on a Glen Burnie street, Anne Arundel County police said.

The victim told police that as she was getting out of her car on the 300 block of Oak Manor Drive around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, a man approached and demanded her purse.

She refused to hand it over. The man climbed into her car, wrested it from her, and fled, police say.

He was described as tall, with a medium to heavy build and wearing a white long-sleeved shirt and a black ski mask.
