COLLEGE PARK -- Adrian Bowie seemed primed to assert himself. His Terrapins were losing to Missouri by eight in the first half in Kansas City, Mo., last week when the speedy guard stole the ball and laid it in. He followed with a successful drive to the hoop on Maryland's next possession.

But Bowie is a freshman, a fact made painfully obvious when he then turned the ball over twice and committed two fouls in a 20-second span.
