Maybe you didn't notice. (We should all be sleeping in.) But the sun is now rising after 7 a.m. in Baltimore, and we're still six weeks (and 26 minutes) from the latest sunrise of the year. Or are we? The sun rose after 7 a.m. throughout October under Daylight Saving Time. Today, under Standard Time, we're actually getting the same morning sunlight as we did on Oct. 1. Sunrises during that added week of Daylight Time in October were actually later than we'll see in January.
