Police identify victim of fatal shooting
Police identified yesterday a man found shot to death Wednesday night in the doorway of his Middle River home.
The victim was identified by county police as Tyrone Barnes Jr., 32.
Responding to a report of shots being fired shortly before 9:30 p.m., police entered an apartment building in the 9800 block of Langs Road in the Victory Villa Gardens community and found the man bleeding from at least one bullet wound.
Barnes was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was taken to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy, police said.
Detectives were evaluating evidence and witness statements to try to identify a suspect in the shooting, police said. Investigators did not know whether the shooter and the suspect had any relationship and knew of no motive for the killing, police said yesterday.

Man killed in head-on collision

The man's vehicle was eastbound on Old York Road near Bond Road north of Parkton about 3:30 p.m. when it was struck by a westbound vehicle, according to preliminary information from county police spokesman Bill Toohey.

Man gets 20 years in killing
A Baltimore man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison in the strangling of a Virginia woman whose body was found in January by bicyclists in a wooded area of Owings Mills.
Wayne Baboolal, 45, of the 7000 block of Surrey Drive had pleaded guilty in July to one count of second-degree murder in the Jan. 4 death of Washeeda Ali Siahpoush, 43, of Chantilly, Va.
Baboolal told police that he killed the woman after an argument, according to court records.
After Siahpoush slapped and scratched the man's face, the pair left his home in his Ford Explorer, and she asked to be taken to her car, which was parked in the 7200 block of Valley Country Court in the Pikesville area, police said. After a second confrontation, Baboolal grabbed Siahpoush's throat and choked her to death, police said.
He then drove to a wooded area near Caves Road and Park Heights Avenue, where he dumped her body, court records showed.
Baboolal removed her watch and ring, leaving the jewelry on the floor of her car back in Pikesville and putting her keys in the ignition, records stated.
Two bicyclists found Siahpoush's body two days later near the 2500 block of Caves Road.
Circuit Judge John O. Hennegan sentenced Baboolal on Wednesday.
DSS office moves to Merritt Blvd.
The Department of Social Services office in Dundalk recently moved to a new location in Suite C at 1400 Merritt Blvd.
The office was previously at 7701 Dunmanway.
The new location, in a shopping center behind the Giant and Big Lots stores, has more space and is more convenient to public transportation, said Maureen Robinson, spokeswoman for the county Department of Social Services.
