2 charged with theft of wire from BGE
Two men were charged with stealing $15,000 in copper wire from a BGE substation in Odenton early yesterday, and Anne Arundel County police said they are looking for a third suspect.
Police responding to the BGE facility at 730 New Waugh Chapel Road about 3:45 a.m. yesterday Nov. 13 arrested one man as he fled into a nearby community and found the second hiding in nearby woods.
Police said three individuals cut a hole in the fence to enter the facility and began removing copper wiring from within the yard.
Justin Lee Hourigan, 20, of the 700 block of Chapelview Drive in Odenton and John David Keiper, 20, of the 1700 block of Laurence Court in Crofton were charged with second-degree burglary, theft over $500 and destruction of property.
Bowie teen hurt in 1-car accident
A Bowie teenager was seriously injured when he lost control of his car on a slick country road in Lothian and struck a telephone police, Anne Arundel County police said.
Christopher Siam, 19, was heading south on Mount Zion Marlboro Road about 12:45 a.m. Saturday when he missed the sharp curve near Greenock Road. His 1998 Buick Regal spun across the road, which was wet from recent rain, and struck a telephone pole on the driver's side, severing the pole about 4 feet from the ground. The vehicle rolled onto its roof.
Siam was taken to Suburban Hospital in Washington, where he was listed in stable condition. Alcohol and speed appear to be contributing factors in this crash, police said.
3 arrested in theft from hotel guest
Three Glen Burnie men broke into the Linthicum hotel room of a sleeping guest and stole his money and three frozen dinners, Anne Arundel County police said.
The victim reported that he was sleeping in his room at the Extended Stay America at 1500 Aero Drive about 6:05 a.m. Sunday when he awoke to find three men rifling through his property. When he got out of bed, one of the burglars pushed him against a counter and the trio fled.
They had thrown his wallet into the toilet after removing the cash and taken three Hungry Man dinners out of his refrigerator.
There were no signs of forced entry into the room of the victim, who said that he had attended a party at another room earlier in the evening and that the suspects might have been there.
That helped lead police to three suspects.
John Martin Hunter, 18, and Stevie Link Schoefeld, 25, both of the 7700 block of Overhill Road, have been arrested. A warrant has been issued for Kiorsini Keith Brooks, 27, of the 7800 block of Ritchie Highway. All three have been charged with first-, third- and fourth-degree burglary, robbery, theft under $500 and second-degree assault.
2 teens charged in delivery robbery
Two Laurel teenagers were charged with robbing a Chinese-food deliveryman, and Anne Arundel County police are looking for a third suspect.
A 45-year-old driver for the China 1 Diner, 9836 Mallard Drive in Laurel, Prince George's County, said he was making a delivery about 2 p.m. Friday at 229 Red Clay Road on the Anne Arundel side of Laurel when the three accosted him. They implied that they were armed and stole the food before fleeing on foot.
Witness accounts helped police to track down two of the suspects. Robert Allen Tassel, 19, of the 220 block of Sweet Pine Drive and an unidentified 13-year-old boy, who was charged as a juvenile, were charged with armed robbery, robbery, theft and assault.
2 men robbed in motel parking lot
Two men were robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot of a Laurel motel, Anne Arundel County police said.
The victims said the two robbers threatened them with handguns and robbed them about 2 p.m. Saturday outside the Knights Inn, 3380 Laurel-Fort Meade Road. The suspects fled in a white Chevy Monte Carlo with Missouri tag 3BG88Y. It had previously been reported stolen from Washington.
One suspect was described as black, about 25 years old, thin, about 6 feet tall, unshaven, with short hair and wearing a black headband, black nylon windbreaker and blue jeans.
The second was described as black, in his mid-20s, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with a medium build, short hair, thick mustache and beard and wearing a black winter hat and black and light-blue sweatshirt.
Man is robbed on way home
A Glen Burnie man who was walking home was robbed, Anne Arundel County police said.
The victim said he was on the 7800 block of Woodside Terrace and heading toward his patio about 9:55 p.m. Saturday when the robber approached him from behind and said, "Give me your money." The suspect had his hand in his jacket pocket to imply that he had a weapon. The victim handed his wallet to the robber, who walked away.
He was described as black, about 20 years old, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a heavy build, dark complexion, wide nose and round face and wearing a long dark green hooded jacket with a yellow plaid liner and baggy blue jeans.
