Storyteller to visit libraries for Children's Book Week

The Baltimore Sun

Harford County Public library will celebrate Children's Book Week, tomorrow through Sunday, with the theme "Rise Up Reading!" The program includes appearances by award-winning Native American storyteller and recording artist Dovie Thomason.

Thomason has been recognized internationally for her ability to take her listeners to the "timeless place" where she was first captivated by the old stories from her Plains Apache and Lakota relatives. She has shared her stories in hopes of giving audiences an understanding of the cultures of Native Americans.

Programs, suitable for all ages, will be held Tuesday, 4:30 p.m. at Fallston and 7 p.m. at Edgewood; Wednesday, 4:30 p.m. at Aberdeen and 7 p.m. at Havre de Grace; Thursday, 4:30 p.m. at Norrisville and 7 p.m. at Darlington; Saturday, 1 p.m. at Abingdon and 4 p.m. at Jarrettsville; and Nov. 18 at 1:30 p.m. at Bel Air.

Registration is required through each branch or the library's Web site, HCPLonline.info.
