OUTLOOK -- Two field hockey powers will meet, with Fallston (15-2-1) going for its first state title since 2001 and its 10th overall. WHEN -- Tuesday or Thursday, TBA

WHERE -- Broadneck

OUTLOOK -- C.M. Wright (12-4-1) is looking for its second state title in three years. The Mustangs won two years ago on Lyndsie Ludwig's goal, and she made the play that put them back into the state final. Ludwig scored in double overtime to give C.M. Wright a 2-1 victory over No. 5 Severna Park last week in their state semifinal. The Mustangs have played much better since a brief slump late in the regular season. Montgomery County's Quince Orchard (16-2) had little trouble in the state semifinal, rolling to a 4-1 victory over Eleanor Roosevelt.

OUTLOOK -- So much for bad starts. The Mariners played poorly in their season opener but won their next eight games. Their first-round opponent has yet to be determined. QB C.J. Townes is the center of coach Bill Waibel's ball-control offense. Joppatowne's defense has been strong all season.

WHEN -- Friday, 7 p.m.

OUTLOOK -- Coach Ken Brinkman and North Harford have been waiting to play a postseason game at home after losing first-round games at Severna Park and River Hill the past two years. North Harford is led by QB Dan Griffin and has strong lines on both sides of the ball.
