A former employee of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers based in Baltimore has admitted in federal court to submitting false travel vouchers and overtime claims that cost the government up to $400,000, prosecutors said.

Myron Price, 45, of Accokeek pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Baltimore on Thursday to making false claims between 1998 and 2004 for his work as a physical scientist.

Price faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison and three years of supervision upon his release. Prosecutors said he also will have to pay back the government $379,436. He is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 18.

Prosecutors said Price submitted false travel vouchers claiming mileage. For example, prosecutors said, he claimed a trip from Baltimore to Fort Eustis, Va., was 1,130 miles. It actually is 210 miles. Prosecutors said that Price didn't even leave from Baltimore, but left from his home in southern Maryland, making the trip even shorter.

Prosecutors said he also claimed reimbursement for expenses on Saturdays and Sundays when he didn't work and for overtime when he was at the Trump Casino in Atlantic City, N.J. and on vacation in Raleigh, N.C.
