Elizabeth Gannon Woodford, who sold real estate in Baltimore and on the Eastern Shore, died of cancer Monday at Sinai Hospital.

The Centreville resident was 78.

Born Elizabeth Gannon in Easton, she was a 1946 Centreville High School graduate and earned a diploma at Beacom Business College in Wilmington, Del.

She moved to Timonium in 1960 and was a longtime volunteer at Timonium Elementary School.

In 1973, Mrs. Woodford graduated from the Realtor Institute and became a sales agent with Grempler Realty in Towson.

She later formed Woodford & Associates on West Joppa Road.

Mrs. Woodford had been a communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Ruxton, where she was a Sunday school teacher, kitchen chairman and chairman of the annual parish dinner.

She was a volunteer at Greater Baltimore Medical Center and belonged to the Women's Eastern Shore Society of Baltimore.

A member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Engineering Society of Baltimore, she ran conference programs for the women's unit of the National American Society of Civil Engineers.

After moving back to Centreville in 1978, she remained in real estate and again formed Woodford and Associates.

For the past 12 years, she was a broker with Tidewater Properties in Queenstown.

"She liked people a lot and worked with them to be introduced into community activities," said her husband of 55 years, Walter E. "Woody" Woodford Jr., a retired civil engineer.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 301 S. Liberty Street in Centreville.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Walter Wallace Woodford of Timonium and Thomas Kevin Woodford of Fallston; a brother, John F. Gannon, of Dillwyn, Va.; and four grandchildren.
