BALTIMORE IS BECOMING QUITE THE locale for interesting boutiques. From Hampden to Pikesville, Mount Vernon to Mount Washington, fashion is flowing in.

But until Christine Short opened Nectar on O'Donnell Street this month, there was nothing besides eateries, bars and the occasional bank on the Canton Square.

Thankfully, Short has turned a former real estate agency's office -- complete with charming blond wood floors and track lighting -- into an adorable women's boutique.

The Bethany Beach native moved to Canton just to open the store -- which offers trends and staples from $58 to $300 -- because she thought the neighborhood's fashionable ladies would love a cool, local place to shop.

"I kind of think of my girlfriends," when buying for Nectar, says Short, 27. "What would this friend wear? What does this friend like?" With such designers as Emma & Posh, Ogle, Frenzii and Serfontaine, as well as handbags by Tano and shoes by oh...DEER (a celebrity fave), Nectar's offerings are sweet indeed.
