Terps hear, reject calls to sack coach Cosh

The Baltimore Sun

College Park -- After the 2005 season, Kansas State linebackers coach Chris Cosh was one of three candidates to replace Gary Blackney as Maryland's defensive coordinator.

Strong recommendations from Lou Holtz, Nick Saban and Bill Snyder impressed coach Ralph Friedgen enough to hire Cosh, but after mediocre statistics on defense and continued problems with fundamentals such as tackling, questions have surfaced outside the program about how much longer he will keep the position. Cosh hasn't been defensive coordinator at a major program for more than two straight seasons.
