The No. 3 Dulaney girls won their 18th consecutive Baltimore County cross country championship yesterday, but it wasn't easy. The host Lions edged No. 4 Hereford by four points.

Loch Raven won the boys title, beating Hereford by seven points, thanks to five runners finishing in the top 20.

The Dulaney girls had four in the top 10 and five in the top 12 to finish with 30 points. Kristin Malloy won the race for the Bulls, who placed five in the top 13 but came up just short with 34. Loch Raven was third with 111.

"I knew it was going to be a war," Dulaney coach Chad Boyle said. "We knew they'd be coming for us."

Malloy won the race in 19 minutes, 12.4 seconds, pulling away from Dulaney's Emma Larkin (19:21.7). Anjelica DiNucci (fourth), Kelly Rush (fifth), Chelsey Bush (seventh) and Katie Cox (12th) were the rest of the Dulaney top five.

Loch Raven used balance to win on the boys side with 56 points, ahead of Hereford (63). Sumanth Kuppali won the race for Perry Hall in 16:19.9, beating Loch Raven's Mike Glassman (16:50.2). But Dominic Rubino (ninth), Brandon Sweeney (14th), Mike Greco (15th) and Jeff Delcher (19th) helped the Raiders post a balanced attack.
