'Not That Into You' is into Baltimore

How nice. A film set in Baltimore is actually going to be filmed, at least partially, right here in Charm City.

He's Just Not That Into You, a comedy starring Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Connelly, Scarlett Johansson, Drew Barrymore and Kris Kristofferson, is set to spend four days filming in and around Baltimore next month, possibly including Fells Point.

Filming is tentatively set for Nov. 16-19.

There's no word yet on which of the principals will be making the trek to Baltimore. Most of the movie already has been filmed in the Los Angeles area.

He's Just Not That Into You is based on the book of the same name by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo, which purports to list all the excuses a woman concocts for why a man she longs for doesn't seem interested in her.

Pat Moran, who will be handling the Baltimore casting, said the filmmakers asked for seven to 10 local actors to play roles.

The movie, from New Line Pictures, is tentatively set for an August release. It is being directed by Ken Kwapis, whose previous films include License to Wed (2007) and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2005). He also co-directed He Said, She Said, which was filmed in Baltimore in 1990.

Area residents who want to get close to the action could be in luck. As part of its fundraising gala scheduled for Sunday, the Maryland Film Festival is auctioning off an extra's role in the film. Information on the auction is available at md-filmfest.com.

Wondering how much such a brush with fame could run? In February, Center Stage auctioned off a walk-on role on The Wire for $5,000. In 1995, a bit part in Jodie Foster's Home for the Holidays went for $580. Unfortunately, the scene featuring the winner was left on the cutting-room floor.
