O's, Cubs could play and deal at same time

The Baltimore Sun

Teams from the American League East will play the National League Central next season as part of the interleague schedule, which means the Orioles will play the Chicago Cubs, which means they can complete a trade or two during the series. They'll love the convenience.

You might be interested to know that second baseman Eric Perlozzo - son of former Orioles manager Sam Perlozzo - batted .247 with eight doubles, two triples, one home run and 16 RBIs at Bluefield, the Orioles' Rookie-level affiliate.

Los Angeles Angels bench coach Ron Roenicke is expected to be a candidate for the Pittsburgh Pirates' managerial job. He's the brother of former Orioles outfielder Gary Roenicke, who is a scout in the Orioles' organization.

Gary scouts the left-handed pitchers, John Lowenstein the right-handers.

Kidding.
