Though the Owls have struggled of late, they entered Thursday's play unbeaten against county competition, and they edged the Lions last year, 1-0. Liberty is searching for its sixth county title in the past nine years.

OUTLOOK -- No. 7 Francis Scott Key should be the heavy favorite to repeat as the boys champion, a year after sweeping the top five places in the meet to win in unprecedented fashion. The girls title should be decided between No. 8 Century - the defending champion - and challenger No. 10 South Carroll. The Cavaliers edged the Knights at the recent Run from the Lions Den.

OUTLOOK -- County champion Liberty will be looking to improve on last year's disappointing performance, when the Lions succumbed to the poor weather conditions and bowed out after the 2A-1A tournament's opening day. Senior captain John Rosecrans will lead the way for Liberty, which had its best finish in 2002, taking runner-up at the 4A-3A level.
