Matt Stover, who came into yesterday's game having made 13 of 16 field-goal attempts this season, was 5-for-5 against the Rams.
"Busy day. Very busy day," Stover said. "I've been saying that whatever it takes [to win]. It's not about me."
Considering the outcome, some might think it was an easy day for the 18-year veteran.
"I wish I could say yes, but there's no easy field goals," said Stover, who tied his personal best with the five field goals. "Every kick is still hard. It's a mental battle, an emotional battle, how you handle it. You've got to go out ... thinking every field goal matters, it could be the game-winner."
Stover made field goals of 43 and 42 yards in the first half and 23, 31 and 36 yards in the second half.
Stover also got a lot of work on kickoffs, putting three of them in the end zone in the second half, two of which resulted in touchbacks. Stover seemed as pleased with his kickoffs as he did with his field goals.
"That's great," he said. "That creates momentum for the defense knowing that they're going to start on their 20-yard line. The other way, I was kicking some directional kicks, making sure that I kept them off balance."
High fives
Matt Stover has kicked five field goals in a game four times and the Ravens are 4-0 in those games.
