Hurt McNair skips practice, still likely to start Sunday

The Baltimore Sun

Ravens quarterback Steve McNair missed practice yesterday because of a stiff back, but the Ravens seem confident that he will start Sunday against the winless St. Louis Rams.

"It's just his back was stiff this morning," coach Brian Billick said after practice. "I guess he slept on it wrong."

McNair has been bothered by a groin injury for most of the season but had not been listed on the injury report. He has missed only one start since being traded to the Ravens last season.

Backup quarterback Kyle Boller, who started and won the second game of the season, took all the snaps with the first team yesterday.

Asked whether he was concerned about McNair's availability for Sunday, Billick said, "Right now, I'm not."

McNair was not available for comment yesterday.
