Police identified a Northeast Baltimore man with a lengthy record as the driver of a sport utility vehicle that struck an officer Tuesday.
Bernard Gough, 27, of the 1600 block of Heathfield Ave., was spotted driving a Ford Explorer and stopped by two plainclothes officers in a marked car in the 5500 block of Woodmont Ave, police said. The officers, who believed the SUV was stolen, identified themselves, but the driver sped off, police said.
One officer, whom police have not identified, became caught in the vehicle and was dragged several hundred feet before firing his gun and grazing Gough in the neck, police said. Agent Donny Moses, a Police Department spokesman, said the officer has two years' experience.
