A federal judge sentenced a 29-year-old Baltimore man yesterday to more than 6 1/2 years in prison for being in possession of a gun after receiving a felony conviction.
Chief U.S. District Judge Benson E. Legg sentenced Earnest Minor Jr. to the 80-month prison term followed by four years of supervised release for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to his plea agreement, Minor was seen by city police on Oct. 30, 2006, getting out of a black Lexus LS400 in the 3300 block of E. Fayette St. in Baltimore and noticed that he had what looked to be a concealed gun at his waist.
The officers arrested Minor after a brief chase and recovered a loaded .22-caliber semiautomatic handgun.
