Eugene Patrick Pulaski, a retired foreman and outdoorsman, died Saturday of mesothelioma at his Perry Hall home. He was 81.

Mr. Pulaski was born in Baltimore and raised in Highlandtown. He was a 1943 graduate of the old Patterson Park High School and enlisted in the Navy that year.

He was a sonar operator aboard ships in the Atlantic, Mediterranean and Pacific, and he participated in the landings at Anzio, Italy. He was honorably discharged in 1946.

Mr. Pulaski worked as an electrician and foreman for 37 years at Bethlehem Steel Corp.'s Sparrows Point plant until retiring in the 1980s.

He enjoyed fishing and deer hunting on the Eastern Shore, and had gone big-game hunting in Alaska.

Mr. Pulaski, who had lived in Perry Hall the past two years, formerly lived on Park Haven Road in Dundalk for 50 years.

His wife of 50 years, the former Lillian Gattus, died in 2002.

Mr. Pulaski was a member of Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, 7945 N. Boundary Road, Dundalk, where a Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 a.m. today.

He is survived by two sons, Brian P. Pulaski of Darlington and Michael P. Pulaski of Columbia, S.C.; a daughter, Kimberly M. Duffy of Perry Hall; a brother, Norman Pulaski of Dundalk; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
