A 25-year-old Baltimore man received a two-decade prison sentence in federal court yesterday for stealing a Jeep at gunpoint and robbing a streetside vendor.
U.S. District Judge William M. Nickerson sentenced Thomas Walker after Walker pleaded guilty to robbery and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.According to the plea agreement, Baltimore police officers responded on Dec. 8, 2005, to a report of the armed robbery of a man selling clothes out of his van.
At 1 p.m., authorities said, Walker approached the clothes salesman with a 12-gauge shotgun and demanded money. Walker took off in a Jeep Cherokee that he had stolen earlier in the day at gunpoint. He was arrested a short time later after a traffic stop.
