3-night revival at St. John Baptist
St. John Baptist Church, 8910 Old Annapolis Road, Columbia, will hold its annual revival for three nights, Oct. 15-17. Services are to begin at 7 p.m.
This year's theme is "Maximizing Our Potential" (1 Corinthians 15:58). The revival speaker will be the Rev. Henry P. Davis III, pastor of First Baptist Church of Highland Park in Landover.

Oktoberfest, auction being held today
Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will sponsor an Oktoberfest and silent auction from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at 8940 Route 108, Suite D, Columbia.
A German dinner, including bratwurst, homemade sauerkraut, potato salad and desserts, will be served from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Tickets are available at the door. The cost is $15 for adults; $5 for children ages 6 to 13. Children younger than 6 can have a free hot dog. Soft drinks, beer and wine will be for sale.
The silent auction begins 7 p.m. and closes at 8:45 p.m.
The event is a fundraiser for the Social Ministry's Food and Fuel Fund for Howard County families in need.

Church's fall fest, dinner set Sunday
Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, 4801 Ilchester Road, Ellicott City, will hold its 71st Fall Festival and Turkey Dinner from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
The family event includes food, carnival games, rides and activities for children and adults, including a $1,000 raffle. Tickets are $1 each; six for $5.
Dinner is $13 for adults; $12 for senior citizens and $10 for children ages 6 to 11. Children younger than 5 eat for free. Carryout is available.

Concert tomorrow at interfaith center
The UU Chalice Concert Series will present "BSO Chamber II - Works for Tenor, Horn, Violin and Piano," at 8 p.m. tomorrow at Owen Brown Interfaith Center, 7246 Cradlerock Way, Columbia.
The first program of the season will feature members of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in a concert of chamber works by Benjamin Britten, Mozart, Ravel and Brahms. Thomas Benjamin will give a preconcert lecture on the composers and their work at 7:15 p.m.
Tickets are $20 at the door; $12 for students. Children to age 12 are admitted free with a paying adult. Patron tickets are $27.

Hadassah holding a gala Oct. 14
Howard County Hadassah will sponsor a Champagne and Chocolate Gala, an evening of pinball, pool and pingpong, from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 14 at a private home in Highland.
Members and nonmembers are welcome. The cost is $18 for members; $25 for nonmembers. Payment should be sent to Hadassah of Howard County, P.O. Box 238, Simpsonville 21150-0238.
The event will raise money for youth activities in Israel and the United States.

Shrine schedules a Healing Mass
The Shrine of St. Anthony, 12290 Folly Quarter Road, near Glenelg, will celebrate a Healing Mass at 7:30 p.m. today.
A Day of Prayer: "Francis, Lover of the Earth," will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow. The cost is $45 and includes lunch and materials. Registration is required.
Blessing of Animals will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the piazza at the Shrine of St. Anthony. All pets should be on a leash and accompanied by their owners.
Dinner and a concert, "Under the Arches," is planned for 6 p.m. Sunday. The evening concert will be accompanied by an Italian dinner with wine. The cost is $25; $15 for children. Reservations are required.

Simchat Torah services today
The Lubavitch Center for Jewish Education, 770 Howes Lane, Columbia, will hold Simchat Torah services at 9:30 a.m. today.
The completion of the annual cycle of weekly Torah readings and beginning of a new cycle will be celebrated by a procession of congregants singing and dancing with the Torah scrolls.
