Future football games between Maryland and Navy are once again a possibility, as the athletic directors of both schools agreed yesterday to reconsider scheduling a game in Baltimore on Sept. 4, 2010, and another in 2014.

Maryland athletic director Debbie Yow and Navy athletic director Chet Gladchuk said yesterday that they would like to play the games but just need to agree on financial terms.

"I called Chet and we have agreed to continue discussions about the possibility of a Maryland-Navy football game," Yow said.

Navy offered to play Maryland in 2010 and 2014, with the Terps being the home team in 2010 and the Midshipmen in 2014.

"I thought we had an agreement in 2010," Gladchuk said. "I have never not wanted to play. We've always been receptive to play.

"I don't know what the issue was in terms of the reluctance or breakdown in communication. ... I'll call her in a day or two and see if she wants to resolve this. If not, we'll move on."

Miscommunication led to Maryland wanting to seek out a different nonconference opponent because of a time crunch, but that situation was resolved between the two officials yesterday.

The 2005 Maryland-Navy game in Baltimore - a 23-20 victory for the Terps - drew more than 67,000 spectators and earned each school more than $1 million.

Before the 2005 game, Maryland had not played Navy since 1965.
