No. 14 Liberty @ Winters Mill

WHEN -- Tuesday, 6:30 p.m.

OUTLOOK -- After starting the season 1-3, Liberty - last year's Monocacy Valley Athletic League Piedmont Conference champion - has bounced back with wins against North Carroll and Hereford. Winters Mill, meanwhile, was off to a 4-1 start before its game against North Carroll yesterday, led by first team All-County midfielders Missy Rankin and Cassie Cooke, the latter a transfer from Westminster. Liberty ended Winters Mill's season in the regional playoffs a year ago.

North Carroll @ Century

WHEN -- Friday, 7 p.m.

OUTLOOK -- Two of the county's biggest surprise teams meet in a game that could prove pivotal in the Carroll County title hunt. The teams started a combined 5-1 this season after combining to go 35-55 over the past four years. Each team is led by its QB, with Stefan Mitchell guiding the Panthers' prolific passing attack, and Luke Wright pacing the Knights' strong running game.

Thomas Johnson Tournament

WHEN -- Saturday, 10 a.m.

OUTLOOK -- Several of the county's top teams, including No. 12 Francis Scott Key, Liberty and South Carroll, will take part in this annual tournament, which is always one of the area's best. Key won the tournament a year ago, scoring a surprising three-game win over Liberty along the way. Local teams will be tested in this round-robin event, which will be a good indication of the current pecking order in the Monocacy Valley Athletic League.
