Little Rock's Central High: still a study in black, white

The Baltimore Sun

We live in a golden age of TV documentaries. It is hard to imagine more powerful films about American life and history than Spike Lee's When the Levees Broke (last year on HBO) or Ken Burns' The War (this week on PBS).

In that tradition of film as social conscience and shared memory comes Little Rock Central: 50 Years Later at 8 tonight on HBO. Hard-nosed and even-handed, the 90-minute documentary by Brent and Craig Renaud offers an illuminating - and ultimately depressing - look at race relations today in a historic Arkansas high school five decades after federal troops were used to integrate it.

On TV Little Rock Central: 50 Years Later airs at 8 tonight on HBO.
