Royals update

Kansas City returns to Baltimore to make up an April 15 rainout. The Orioles are 6-0 against the Royals this season. Meche is coming off back-to-back wins for the first time since July 14 and 20. He is 3-6 in his past 12 starts but has worked at least six innings and allowed two earned runs or fewer in nine of those outings. Royals outfielder Emil Brown has hits in 17 of his past 19 starts. Catcher John Buck leads the Royals with 18 home runs but hasn't hit one since Sept. 5. He is two homers shy of tying the franchise record for homers by a catcher in a season. Outfielder David DeJesus scored his 100th run of the season Saturday, becoming the first Royal to accomplish that since Carlos Beltran in 2003. Third baseman Alex Gordon has a team-leading 36 doubles and would become the first rookie to lead the Royals in that category since Kevin Seitzer in 1987. Royals manager Buddy Bell announced Aug. 1 that he isn't returning next season.
